Özet
Global warming intensifies the frequency and severity of natural disasters and has profound impacts on all living beings. The construction sector plays a key role in combating global warming. A significant portion of greenhouse gas emission worldwide is caused by the construction industry. In terms of infrastructure, more than half of the world's energy consumption occurs in large cities, which leads to significant CO¢ emissions. To mitigate the negative impacts caused by the construction sector, strategies such as using ecological materials, recycling gray water, and generating energy from natural resources like the sun and wind are employed to promote a sustainable environment.
Promoting awareness of sustainability is recognized as an essential component of architectural education. Architecture schools at universities worldwide have incorporated this topic into their curricula, with environmental sustainability being covered through both theoretical and practical ourses across many institutions. Istanbul Medipol University School of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture is one of the architecture schools that aim to raise awareness about sustainability in architecture. From the first year of education, the subject of environmental sustainability is carried out in both compulsory and elective courses in all terms with theoretical and practical studies. The aim of this paper is to measure architecture school students9 perception on sustainable architecture through a survey. The sample is determined as the students who have reached the last year of their education and are entitled to graduate. With this study, the sustainable architectural design awareness targeted by the architecture school is to be measured.
