Özet

This paper examines the emergence of a new understanding of security at the intersection of digital activism and cyberfeminism. Departing from traditional state-centric and militaristic conceptions of security centered on national interests, cyberfeminism proposes an emancipatory and inclusive notion of security focused on the multiplicity of human experience. The study analyzes how feminist digital activism transforms security by intertwining critique of patriarchy and hetero-normativity with practices of care and solidarity building online. Just as historical witch hunts served the interest of patriarchal elites by punishing outspoken women with supposed supernatural powers, today’s independent and vocal women face coordinated online attacks. By reappropriating the symbol of the witch, contemporary cyber activist women turn oppression into a rallying point for collective action. The resulting “cyber witch walks” give birth to autonomous cyberfeminist security networks, providing safe spaces and mutual aid for targeted women online. This paper argues for legitimizing these bottom-up cyberfeminist security structures through policy and legislation as indispensable to democratic and equitable security frameworks responsive to the most vulnerable populations.
