Effectiveness of repeated standardized patient simulation on self-efficacy and attitudes toward end-of-life care among senior nursing students: A quasi-experimental study

Özet
Background: End-of-life care requires high nursing competence. This study evaluated repeated standardized patient simulations' impact on senior students' attitudes and self-efficacy regarding end-of-life care. Methods: A quasi-experimental study assigned 77 senior nursing students to intervention (three sessions, n=40) or comparison (single session, n=37) groups. Data were collected via self-efficacy and attitude scales. Results: Both groups showed significant within-group increases in self-efficacy and positive attitudes. The intervention group demonstrated significantly higher post-test self-efficacy (r=0.50), though post-test attitudes showed no between-group differences. Conclusions: Repeated simulation enhances self-efficacy and supports positive attitudes, though transforming negative attitudes requires longitudinal investigation.
