Özet

Objecive: Lax Vox is a vocal technique widely used in voice therapy. Studies conducted to date have shown that Lax Vox has positive effects in cases such as functional voice disorders, vocal fatigue, and hypofunctional voice use. Lax Vox is used for therapeutic purposes and is also a useful method for preserving voice and enhancing performance in healthy individuals. The aim of this study was to investigate the short-term effects of the Lax Vox vocal technique application on the voice quality of speech and language therapy undergraduate students with healthy voices. Material and Methods: The study was conducted with the participation of 54 female students enrolled in a speech-language therapy undergraduate program. Acoustic voice analyses [fo, F1, F2, F3, jitter, shimmer, and harmonic to noise ratio (HNR)] were performed before and after a 20-minute session of the Lax Vox vocal technique application to objectively evaluate the changes in the participants’’ voices. Participants were also asked to perform a self-assessment of their perception of their voice before and after the application using the visual analog scale. Results: After the application, significant changes were observed in the acoustic voice analysis of the participants, particularly in the fo, jitter, shimmer, and HNR values. The participants’ perceptual self-assessment scores regarding the quality of their voices increased significantly after the application. Conclusion: The application of the Lax Vox vocal technique was found to have positive effects on the short-term voice quality of speech and language therapy students with healthy voices.
