Breast milk is a extraordinary food that can meet all the needs of a newborn baby for six months. Breastfeeding is not only the healthiest and most natural method of infant feeding, but also strengthens the emotional bond between mother and baby. The World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund recommend that every baby be fed exclusively with breast milk for six months from birth, and continued breastfeeding until at least 2 years of age with complementary feeding. The perception of breastfeeding self-efficacy is one of the factors affecting the duration and success of breastfeeding. The "Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Theory" was developed by Dennis in 1999. Mothers' perception of breastfeeding self-efficacy; shows whether the mother will choose to breastfeed, how much effort will it take, her thoughts on breastfeeding, and how to deal with difficulties in breastfeeding, thus the mother's ability to cope with the difficulties she will encounter during the breastfeeding process. Health professionals should support mothers, starting from the prenatal period, which will strengthen the perception of mothers' self-efficacy and increase breastfeeding success.
