Özet

Hearing loss is a sensory problem that has a direct impact on the quality of life of both children and adults, and the negative effects of hearing loss increase gradually if no solution is proposed. Infants and children with hearing loss may experience problems in language development due to hearing loss, which can negatively affect their school life. In adult populations, communication problems and resulting psychological effects such as social isolation, depression, and negative impact on work and home life are common. Hearing aids are the first rehabilitation instruments used by ENT specialists and audiologists for hearing loss. However, the application of hearing aids has separate application procedures for the pediatric population and adults. In order for hearing aids to be effective in both patient groups, the hearing loss must be accurately explained to the patient and their family, patients must be multidimensionally assessed for hearing aid fitting, hearing aid gains must be verified with objective and subjective methods, and patient follow-up must not be neglected. It is important to remember that hearing loss is only the tip of the iceberg, and hearing-impaired individuals should be removed from the depths of the sea with an effective hearing aid application before they face the dark side of hearing loss
