Özet
Parkinson’s
Disease (PA) is a progressive neurodegenerativedisorder driven by hereditary
and environmental risk factors.The
oral cavity harbors a complex microbial community, of which a shift towards
dysbiosis often leads to periodontitis (PD)PD
is strongly associated with several systemic diseases such
as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, rheumatic diseases, and Alzheimer’s
disease; mostly due to its chronic inflammatory burden and systemic bacterial
dissemination. The
brain-gut axis has been the focus of microbial studies on PA pathogenesis.
Moreover, PA patients showed diverse gut microbiome with significant taxonomic
diversities. However,
no clear connection of oral microbiome, which harbors the most comprehensive
and highest bacterial diversity in the human body after the gut microbiome and
has an essential impact on systemic diseases,
is known to brain and gut health in patients with PA.•PA
patients with Stage III, Grade B periodontitis (PA+P), non-PA patients with
periodontitis (P); and systemically and periodontally healthy individuals (HC)
were enrolled.Clinical
and periodontal parameters were recorded.Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating
Scale (UPDRS) – part III was used to evaluate the severity of motor functions
of PA patients.Unstimulated
saliva samples and stool samples were collected.Stool
samples were collected using CanvaxBiotech Stool Sample Collection &
Stabilization Kit (Cordoba,Spain). Next
generation sequencing of 16s ribosomal RNA (V1-V3 regions) was performed. Differential abundance was compared
between three groups with ANCOM-BC and LefSe analysis.
