Özet

Objective: With this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between individual-family fit and cherophobia and psychological well-being of individuals and to make recommendations by evaluating the obtained results from a social work perspective. Material and Methods: The study was conducted using an electronic-based questionnaire method with 412 individuals aged 18 and over residing in Mersin City Centre and Districts between August 12, 2020 and September 12, 2020. Family fit, cherophobia, and psychological well-being scales were used in the study. Results: According to the correlation values, a negative, low and insignificant relationship was found between family fit scores and cherophobia at the r = -0.04 level. A positive, significant and high relationship at r = 0.64 was found between family fit and psychological well-being. A negative, significant and low relationship was found between cherophobia and psychological well-being at the level of r = -0.13. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that family fit and psychological well-being were relatively high, while cherophobia was moderate. A positive high relationship was found between family fit and psychological well-being, and a negative low relationship was found between family fit and cherophobia. It was determined that family fit and cherophobia are significant predictors of psychological well-being. It was also found in the study that cherophobia, family fit and psychological well-being differ according to some socio-demographic characteristics.
