Özet

Aim: In this study, it is aimed to determine the barriers to green transformation in healthcare facilities as a result of literature review, to prioritize them with the AHP method and to present strategy suggestions for solving the barriers in line with their importance ranking.

Methods: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, the literature review identified 7 barriers to green transformation: inadequate strategic planning, resistance to change and innovation, financial barriers, structural and cultural barriers, technological inadequacy, information flow and communication barriers, and regulatory and bureaucratic barriers. AHP, a multi-criteria decision-making method, was used to determine the relative importance of these barriers and to prioritize them. Opinions were collected from 5 experts with knowledge and experience in the fields of health management, health policies, health economics, and public health using an AHP questionnaire. The method's relevant equation calculations were performed using Microsoft Excel.

Results: According to the AHP results, the most significant barriers to green transformation in healthcare facilities were identified as inadequate strategic planning, financial barriers, and resistance to change and innovation. The least significant barrier were identified as regulatory and bureaucratic barriers.

Conclusion: The findings indicate that the success of the green transformation process requires interventions at the strategic and institutional levels. In this context, priority strategies are recommended: developing a management model that integrates green transformation goals into institutional strategic plans for healthcare facilities and defines measurable indicators and performance criteria; establishing budget lines that support green transformation, diversifying resources through green financing funds and public-private partnerships; implementing regular training, capacity-building programs, and reward mechanisms for managers and employees to foster a culture of change and innovation; and establishing digital reporting and monitoring systems to improve information flow. Implementing these recommendations will systematically reduce the barriers to green transformation in healthcare facilities, contributing to both environmental sustainability and the effectiveness of healthcare services. Future studies are recommended not only to rank the barriers but also to measure the effectiveness of the drivers and strategies implemented to overcome these barriers and to assess the traceability of the green transformation using next-generation methods, such as artificial intelligence-based decision support systems.
