Özet

Purpose: To evaluate combined phacoemulsification and drainage of silicone oil through posterior capsulorhexis procedure in terms of its results and complications. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study 29 eyes of 27 patients who underwent combined phacoemulsification and drainage of silicone oil through posterior capsulorhexis surgery were included. Patients' postoperative outcomes, their early and late stage complications were evaluated. Two tailed distribution outcomes were accepted for P values. Results were considered statistically significant as p<0.05. Results: The most often reason for silicon tamponated pars plana vitrectomy was vitreous haemorrhage on basis of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (34%). The best corrected visual acuity was mean 1.26±0.65 (0.39-3) logMAR preoperatively and 0.95±0.64 (0-2) logMAR at the last examination postoperatively. The difference in visual acuity was not significant statistacally (p=0.07). The most often postoperative early stage complication was corneal oedema (31%) and the most often postoperative late stage complication was glaucoma (13.8). Conclusions: Combined phacoemulsification and drainage of silicone oil through posterior capsulorhexis is a safe, quick and minimal traumatic technique; and it provides good visual rehabilitation in early postoperative stage.
