Abstract

Evaluation of the local hydrochemical facies in the Umm Er Radhuma (UER) limestone aquifer in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia and the presentation of supplemental methods for the classical techniques in such an evaluation are presented. Equilibrium studies of ground‐water chemistry of the UER aquifer indicate that most waters arc of calcium sulfate or sodium chloride types. The ground water is saturated with respect to calcite but unsaturated for anhydrite in the northern part of the study area. Charts are developed to find, practically, the ionic activity of any major ion provided that TDS values are estimated. A detailed relationship is provided for estimating TDS values from field measurements of the electrical conductivity. Copyright © 1986, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
