Özet
Technological advancements in healthcare introduce new methods and strategies. High-frequency devices represent innovative approaches in pulmonary rehabilitation and critical care. While high-frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) is primarily used in patients with cystic fibrosis, it also has various other applications. It contributes airway clearance on the chest wall, affecting inspiratory and expiratory flow dynamics. Mechanical ventilation dependence is an undesirable outcome in clinical management as it increases healthcare workload and costs. Numerous studies are focused on reducing this dependence. HFCWO can be effectively utilized in weaning, liberation from mechanical ventilation, and pulmonary rehabilitation to maintain airway clearance, beyond its primary use in cystic fibrosis. This chapter aims to present the role of the high-frequency chest wall oscillation in mechanical ventilator dependence and weaning, and its potential benefits in pulmonary rehabilitation from a different perspective.
