Walsh solutions in hydroscience

Orthogonal Walsh functions have potential application possibilities in hydrosystem problems such as the statistical description, simulation, real time prediction, porous media description, differential equation solution etc. This paper presents, first of all, the fundamentals of these square-uiave functions which assume alternatively only +1 and -1 values over a specified time interval during the operation of hydroaystem concerned. The most attractive properties of them are that they are pieceuise linea linear, orthonormal and their multiplications require simple mathematical operations. © 1982, Elsevier B.V.
